Keith Grayson best known as DJ Kay Slay aka “The Drama King” hailing from Harlem, NY passed away on April 17th due to heath complications after a long battle with COVID-19. The industry lost a passionate, driven and extremely talented musical enthusiast who went out his way to make sure independent artists gained exposure and were heard on the airwaves.
There was a memorial service held during the morning of Sunday, April 24th remembering Kay Slay’s legacy at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, NY. Hot 97, LL Cool J, Remy Ma, Papoose, Mysonne The General, Melle Mel, Gene Deal, and Busta Rhymes along with community leaders spoke during the service about working with Slay and how he will truly be missed. Kay Slay’s family, friends, Fat Joe, Bun B and Kid Capri were also in attendance along with his fans.
It was shared during the memorial that “The Drama King” was known in the industry to squash beef amongst artists during his The Drama Hour show on Hot 97. The night of the memorial, Papooseand Spazo did a special tribute to Kay Slay by doing The Drama Hour dedicated to the Hip Hop legend.
